I think that the demon, or other her, represents an eating disorder. It is telling her to 'just stop eating' and 'you are what you eat' (what kids are told---can play into eating disorders)---so, when she metaphorically 'consumes' the 'the disorder' ---what the eating disorder is telling her to do---she slowly becomes the disorder; It takes over her life and actions. An interpretation of the 'cannibal' motif is that she's starving herself, and so her body has taken to consuming her own carboydrate reserves. The heart on the fork represents her vitality that she is consuming. She lies on the plate, bloodied---the disorder is eating her alive.The blood on the plate reprents how she is harming herself by feeding into the disorder. 'I bite at the hand that feeds me' shows how the more she feeds into the disorder, the more harm it does to herself.The scene of her being panicked in the bathroom may represent her being trapped in a destructive cycle of bulimia---using methods of purging to vomit after over-eating. A hallmark of eating disorders is dysmorphia and distortion of your personal image, leading to fixation; this is shown in the mirror scene, where the disorder climbs out of the mirror and stares down at her like a predator, preying on her insecurities. The dull-toned still of her with colorful images pasted on illistrates how the disorder makes her feel: 'pretty.' At the begining, the disorder is shown whispering to her, convincing her---it offers a platter (perhaps food metaphor!) of promises to her---of what it could make her----and then she is shown staring feverantly at this offer, and praying for its help. When the disorder reaches out to choke her (constricting her esophagus) she accepts it euphorically, deluded by the disorder into thinking that the harm it's doing to her is 'fixing' her. When she's crouched on the ground with a desolate stare and clutches her shirt, she swallows, representing her hunger. Then, the disorder turns to stare at her, convincing her not to eat. The wall starts with only one picture, of which a web of pictures is added too---when she picks up the original photo 'we won't see him anymore' demonstrates how the disorder led her to believe that the her now is truly a better version of her compared to before the eating disorder---that the old version is 'gone.' Her collapsing limp on the couch alludes to the dark fate of an eating disorder left untreated. It eventually consumed all of her vitality. That was just my interpretation. This was absolutely beautifully animated and designed.

Holy shit the nostalgia

Ok: I came up with a backstory based of other comments and watching the vid so many times my brain has rotted, so here goes; A girl believes she’s isn’t beautiful as we see, she has mirrors and seems to be wishing to be beautiful as she taped photos of other beautiful women on to her, some inner demons tell her to do something truly horrific; eat people beautifuler than her, again this could be a metaphor or something else idk. Hence the phrase “you are what you eat” this also could be interpreted as her picking up traits from people she believes are better than her. Slowly not remembering who she is, slowly being driven to insanity so yeah they’re are two ways to interpret this

This is indeed the perfect representation of the academic life and the sheer desire to be best in everything.
